Oh yeah, Kumamon shows up in this movie, too. I guess the prefecture of Kumamoto is sponsoring this film, somehow!
Kumamon just hanging out, randomly appearing in your anime movie, eating a tomato, like you do.
A brand new yo-kai named Hovernyan appears in this film too. No, it’s not hover cat. It’s a cool battling spirit cat with an X-shaped scar on his head!
Fans who attend one of the many screenings across the US will receive a special medal featuring a new character introduced in the movie, Hovernyan. The medal can be used with the new Yo-Motion Yo-kai Watch Model Zero toy, and has a QR code on the back that can be scanned to unlock content for the Yo-kai Watch 2 video game on the Nintendo 3DS.
Yo-kai Watch originally started as an RPG video game developed by Level-5 (Professor Layton, Ni no Kuni, Dragon Quest VIII) and released in 2013, and developed into many spin-off games, manga, and its own anime series. The anime series first debuted in the US in fall of 2015 on Disney XD and Netflix. The Yo-kai Watch movie first debuted in Japan in December 2014 and is now coming to the US for the first time.
